Customer Story: Alexi
After Alexi finished high school and started transitioning into adulthood, her roommate told her about RCO and she was interested in trying out a brokerage for her services. Over the past few years, Alexi wasn’t happy with her living situation. Alexi is friendly, easy going and likes people. She bounced around on friends and acquaintances couches but didn’t have a place of her own. She left RCO to live in a 24-hour group home for a little while but didn’t feel like that was a good fit for her. She came back to RCO in October of 2020 and housing options were very limited. Alexi dreamed of a place of her own to live how she wants to. Dana, her RCO Personal Agent, helped her to find a great PSW and worked with her to research housing options and possibilities. They knew that the HUD waitlist was very long and Alexi was at risk of homelessness.
Dana looked in to the Oregon Housing and Community Services : HUD-811 Project Rental Assistance : Housing Compliance & Monitoring : State of Oregon and it appeared that Alexi qualified. They started the housing application and worked together to gather information and paperwork needed. Alexi worked really hard and with the help of her PA and her PSW, she has moved into a great apartment in Lebanon with a rent amount of $98 out of pocket. She was able to get an accommodation for her two dogs, 14-year-old Matilda “Tillie” and puppy Cleo and she is settled and happy. When asked what she is most happy about with her new living arrangement, she says “I’m happy that I can choose what I want to do and what I don’t want to do. I can decide where I want to go and choose things if I have the money for them.” She and her PSW also said that she keeps her new place clean and is proud of all she has accomplished. Alexi is happy with RCO and all the resources and assistance that her Personal Agent can provide. We are thrilled to see Alexi’s nice apartment and smile!
